4 Division 1 teams go out of the Bistro

There are just two Division 1 teams left to go through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2026 Bistro after the completion of the Round of the Last 16 on Friday. That round saw four Division 1 teams going out of the competition with the greatest giant-killing act coming from bottom of the Division 5 table team Almondbury BC B knocking out Golcar Lib B by 132-101.

Division 4 promotion contenders, Marsh Lib A, saw off Kirkheaton Con A by 100-94 and Division 2 promotion hopefuls, Netherton Con A, beat Lindley Lib A by 110-95. The other Division 1 casualty was Marsh United A who missed out to the only Division 1 winner on the day, Cowcliffe, by 91-85. Lowerhouses were also a Division 1 team to progress but that was because their opponents, Lindley Lib B, withdrew prior to the day.

The closest result of the day where the handicap system proved its worth saw Linthwaite Hall (+20) oust Springwood (+23) from the competition by 105-104. Meltham A made it 3 of the 5 Division leaders left in contention after they beat Greenhead Park 115-95. Kirkheaton Con B are one of two Division 4 teams still in the competition with the full breakdown of the quarter-finalists below along with the draw for the quarter-finals further down, with the neutral venues still to be allocated.
