Review of the Division 5 matches played on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Division 5 teams played two rounds of league fixtures this week on Wednesday and Thursday to catch up with their fixtures postponed on 7 January. It was a good two days for the leaders Mirfield Old Bank who won both of their matches by the same 8-0 scoreline. That results in them winning promotion in their first season in the League so congratulations to them. That may be one target achieved but they will have to work a bit harder yet to add the Division 5 Champions title to their season as Mirfield A prove to be a challenge that they haven't shaken off yet. Six points separate the two teams who meet each other in two weeks' time which may, or may not, sort out the remaining piece of business that the two have to resolve.
Last week's bottom two teams are fighting back as both Thorpe Green B and Kirkheaton C&BC A collected 6-2 Thursday wins to boost their survival hopes. That is more realistic for the Thorpe Green team as their win over Dalton enabled them to leapfrog their opponents and out of the drop zone. The Kirkheaton C&BC A team had a good 6-2 Thursday win over high-flying Jackson Bridge which halted a 6-match winless run of results. They remain in bottom spot with 3 matches left to play including 2 of them against the two teams immediately above them in the table - Thorpe Green B and Dalton. Two defeats this week for Dalton made it four defeats on the trot and they are in serious trouble.
