17 New teams join 2025-26 Winter League

Winter League

As the 2025-26 Winter League season gets underway we are proud to report that we now have 17 new teams joining the League for the new season. That takes us up to 80 teams in total playing in 10 Divisions providing friendly but competitive bowling for 320 bowlers every week. That is a new record for the League. Just when we thought we may have peaked on team numbers we break our own record to come up with 17 new teams. We believe that we will need two new host greens for the 2026-27 season and work on attracting potential clubs will begin next month. More of that later.

Now into our 6th season the League shows no sign on slowing down its recruitment success in fact this year is the largest number of new teams we have ever added to the League for a new season. This includes 8 new teams that will form Division 10 which is a 7-week competition completed before Christmas as a taster to what winter bowling is all about. We hope that all 8 teams will join the League as full members next year once they get the taste of what it is all about.

To continue providing more and more bowling for Huddersfield bowlers each season we need to work with new host greens each year. If your club would be interested in hosting a Division of the Winter League for the 2026-27 season and make up to £6,000 in the process then we would like to hear from you. We will shortly be announcing an invitation to you to a presentation on what all the fuss is about. The observant ones may have noticed that we have had one withdrawal in each of the last two seasons. Rastrick B at the end of the 2024-25 season and then Rastrick A at the end of last season. The super observant ones among you will have noted that one of our new teams is Rastrick! Some teams just can't bear to be away from the Winter League.
