Sunday is the Final of the BCGBA Men's Senior County Championship when Yorkshire take on Shropshire over two-legs. The home leg will be played at Thornhill C&BC starting at 2.00pm with the away leg in deepest Shropshire starting at the same time.
The All-England Merit Winner, Callum Wraight, is in the Shropshire line-up and he is a member of their home team and will face Yorkshire's James Hanson.
Both counties have won the title three times since it was first introduced in 1992 with Shropshire the first-ever winners. They also won it in 2000 and then again in 2006. Whereas Yorkshire's three titles came in 1996, 2014 and 2015.
Copied from the Shropshire County website:
Shropshire play in their 5th Crosfield Cup Final, and their fourth against Yorkshire since 1998. Yorkshire have won two of those, with our success coming in 2009 to add to our inaugural win in 1974.
We have turned to Wem USC for the first time since 2017, when we beat Derbyshire by 50 on there, to try and win this competition for a 3rd time. Yorkshire are using Thornhill Cricket and Bowling Club for their home leg. We last met them in 2019 when we won by 5 overall with a 14 shot win on Newport. There is one change to the Semi Final win against Lancashire, with Dave Lloyd returning for Darren Wellings.
There are some great clashes throughout both legs, with Mike Beer against Jack Dyson and Callum Wraight versus James Hanson looking like they will be classics, while Wayne Rogers will play Ian Booth, who will have some knowledge of the green from his time at Chester Road.
