Yorkshire Merit numbers crunched

Bowling News

We previously reported on Dave Parkin's concerns about this year's Yorkshire Merit competition with the number of entries seemingly well down, which could jeopardise the number of places reserved for the County in the BCGBA Merit.

Dave has now been busy in collecting further information about the number of entries and dates for all 11 of the district feeder competitions in Yorkshire. Who should be leading the promotion of these competitions? Should it be Yorkshire CCGBA or the individual districts? Or should it be both with Yorkshire leading the publicity campaign? Another of Dave's colourful tables below shows the perilous state of the entry numbers to date.

The total target of 200 Yorkshire Merit entries to ensure that the County retains its allocation of 8 places in the national competition is under threat. With just 3 day to go to the entry closing deadline of Friday 16 May there is only a quarter of that target already assured.
