Memories
Dave Parkin has done, and continues to do, a lot of work into providing a complete report of the appearance records of the Yorkshire Ladies teams.
Currently his research provides a comprehensive record of the period from 2010-2023. David believes that the BCGBA Ladies County Competition started in 1986 although Yorkshire didn't enter until the following year, 1987, when they entered under the British Parks umbrella.
In total David calculates that a Yorkshire Ladies team has played 183 matches in that time excluding the annual Roses match and friendly matches against the Civil Service and Yorkshire Juniors (Eddie Swain Trophy).
His current record shows the period 2010 to this year. He believes that Suzanne Howarth is the only lady still active who made her debut in 1987 but quite a few more have 100+ caps including Linda Gledhill, Helen Gilroy & Alexis Lunn-Gadd to name three others. Also, ladies from the Sheffield area played under the Yorkshire banner (and not South Yorkshire) for a number of years.
Dave Parkin's work is very extensive and we have more variations on these records to share over the coming days including the top Home and Away records but again this currently only covers the period 2010-2023.
I am very grateful to Dave Parkin for sharing his records with us and hopefully, over time, he will be able to complete a full record of appearances from 1987 and we hope to share that with you then.
Meanwhile look forward to more postings of variations of the Yorkshire Ladies records for the period 2010-2023 derived from Dave's hard work.
