Dave Parkin looks behind the team selections for the Yorkshire versus South Yorkshire Senior County match to be played tomorrow. The winners will progress through to the final when they will meet the winners of the other semi-final which is between Warwick & Worcester and Potteries & District.
The Yorkshire home match is at Elland WMC whilst the away 12 travel to play at Millhouses Park No1 Green, Abbeydale Road South Sheffield, S7 2QS. Both have a 2.00pm start time.
County Call Up - No Jeans, plenty of Genes by DAVE PARKIN
When Nathan Haigh plays Chris Brown (South Yorkshire) on the hallowed turf of Elland WMC on Sunday August 3rd, he will follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Harry, father Steven & of course mother, Jacquie who have all represented their county.
Having trawled through the records since 1946, I think this is unique. Plenty of Fathers & Sons including Harry & Gene Bardon, John & Ashley Daykin plus Bernard & Paul Sigsworth. Current team members include Chris & Josh Mordue.

By August 1973 when Harry made his debut v Derbyshire, he was an experienced bowler with a few winter seasons at the Griffin under his belt & a big handicap win.
Harry won on his debut 21-3 & played 13 times in total and won 7.

Fast forward to 1998 & reigning Yorkshire Merit winner, Steven made his debut in August for the County side at Newsome WMC & what a debut it was. Winning 21-14, MOTM & sweep winner, Steven went on to play 35 times, winning 21.
Nathan has caught the selectors attention by bowling well in the last 12 months both in the winter & summer. Last summer, he won a 31 up at Metros in Manchester. Winless at the Griffin until the last two weeks, he won the non-Winners event and followed up the weekend after by taking their Champion of Champions event beating Josh Brown 21-15 in the final.
Nathan has bowled well this year qualifying for local finals at Lindley, Marsh & Brighouse.
