Amongst the latest results from the four major team competitions organised by Yorkshire CCGBA are three wonderfully contested matches. Working through each of the latest round of results for each shows the following.
Yorkshire Cup The most prestigious of all the Yorkshire team competitions with a proud history stretching back over 100 years. In that period there can have been no closer set of quarter-final results to match those of this year. Top of that list is the Crossgates versus Thongsbridge match where the aggregate scores were level on 197-197 after the 12-bowler teams had completed their games. The rules stipulate that in such circumstances the deciding factor is the number of individual winners which went the way of Thongsbridge 7-5.
But things didn't stop there with two more really close results as Castleford Town beat Guiseley by one chalk at 217-216 and then the all-Huddersfield encounter between Crosland Moor and Kirkheaton Con went the way of 'The Moor' 217-215.
Pudsey completed the semi-final lineup following a 218-204 win over old rivals Lower Hopton.
Semi-Finals: Thongsbridge v Crosland Moor Castleford Town v Pudsey
Henry Taylor Cup This competition had reached the semi-final stage and the two winners to progress through to the final are Shipley Club who saw off Thongsbridge B comprehensively by 254-157 and Nostell Miners Welfare who beat Elland C&BC 200-179.

Hutchinson Cup
On a day of close results the all-Huddersfield quarter-final between Cowcliffe and Moldgreen Con produced the closest of them all. A 225-225 drawn aggregate match score and the teams were not separated by the number of games won as they drew that as well 6-6. It then went down to the best game score which saw Cowcliffe through to the sem-finals.
Cowcliffe now carry Huddersfield's final interest in this competition as the only other team of local interest was Almondbury Lib who went down 192-221 to Swillington A.
Semi-Finals: Stainland v Pudsey B Swillington A v Cowcliffe
Radley Trophy
Milnsbridge A provide the only remaining interest for Huddersfield supporters after beating Ossett C&BC B 208-195 and their reward is a semi-final match against Ossett C&BC A.
Semi-Finals:
Cleckheaton Sports B v Spen Victoria B Ossett C&BC A v Milnsbridge A
