Winter League preview

Updated: Oct 20, 2021

Winter League

There are only two unbeaten teams in Division 1 and they go head-to-head this Wednesday when Lower Hopton take on the New Millers. However as they have both only played one game so far it is a little early to be building this up as a title decider but you never know.

The all-ladies team from New Mill include three County bowlers in their line-up and they beat Kirkheaton Cons 6-2 in their opening day win. Lower Hopton are the Mirfield League Champions and they clocked up an 8-0 whitewash win in their debut match last week against Lowerhouses 'A'. Good test for both teams who are both new to the Winter League this year but promise to be major players over the season.

Milnsbridge 'A' currently head the table and will be looking to reinforce that standing when playing Lindley BC 'A' this week. Last season Lindley BC inflicted a league double over Milnsbridge so some form and some incentive added into the mix for this match.

When Kirkheaton Cons and Clayton West last met the outcome wasa 3-3 draw and a close encounter is expected again this time with both on 8 points after the 2 opening matches. Lowerhouses 'A' and Thorpe Green 'A' have both won one and lost one to date and they meet up on Wednesday in their first ever match against each other in the Winter League.
