Winter League

The Winter League Management Committee has a standard agenda item of a Finance Report presented by the Treasurer, Bob Haigh, at every meeting. Last Wednesday's meeting was no different and a copy of this is below.

Bob started his presentation by reminding members that the League is not in existence to make a profit. It does not charge huge fees to support admin costs as no officials receive honorariums and no cash prizes are awarded for winning teams or individuals. The main financial benefactors from the Winter League are the host clubs through green fees, catering sales and entry fees to competitions. His report showed a start-of-season bank balance of £838.07 and an end-of-season balance of £1,065.07. An increase of £227 over the season.

The single biggest item of expenditure being the purchase and engraving of trophies at a total cost of £1,131.00. This was offset with donations of £468 towards the cost of four new trophies for the 2025-26 season.

He was happy to recommend to the meeting that team membership fees for the 2026-27 season should remain at £15 as they have done since the League was first formed. He also recommended no increase in entry fees of £3 per bowler for the Winter Cup and the Pairs KO. The meeting supported his recommendations.

All teams are reminded that the Winter League Annual General Meeting will be held from 1.00pm on Friday 7 August at Lindley Liberal Club. All teams are expected to be represented at the meeting. Only teams that have paid their 2026-27 League fees of £15 are allowed to vote on any issue at the AGM. All paid-up teams have one vote on any item voted upon at the AGM. The AGM Agenda and papers will be emailed to all team captains 7 days prior to the meeting taking place.

Teams can pay their £15 in cash from 12.15pm on the day of the meeting. Teams can also pay that fee prior to the meeting by BACS if they wish.
