Winter League
The final two days of the Winter League season are scheduled for this coming week with two days of knock-out bowling that will result in the destination of the Winter Cup for the 2022-23 season.
This trophy was generously donated to the League by Kirkheaton Con bowlers Garry Senior and Tony Butterfield and was won by Lindley BC member Stephen Haigh last year. Last year we had 60 entries to the competition but with two additional divisions created for the 2022-23 season we had an almost overwhelming number of 104 entries in total.
Each of the five divisions then held their own KO competitions resulting in four qualifiers from each division going through to the Last 20 qualifiers which will be held at Springwood on Wednesday (12 April).
The draw for the Last 20 has brought out a very interesting scenario with all four scratch bowlers from Division 1 being placed in the top half of the draw. That means that only one of them can reach the final and the other half of the draw includes bowlers from each of the other four divisions.
Two rounds will be played on Wednesday leaving the final eight to progress through to Finals Day which will be staged at Springwood on Sunday. It is a 1.00pm start on both days. You can follow the scores in all the matches on both days by visiting the Winter League Bowlsnet pages and clicking on Winter League and then Comps with regular updates through the afternoon.
