Last year we had 104 entries for the second running of our Winter Cup. The competition is open to all League bowlers and is an individual knock-out competition. Now with 14 more teams in the League than last year we have already passed that total for the 2024 competition.
The only disappointing response has been at Primrose Hill Lib where the bowlers seem to have been scared off by the strong list of entries already received from the top two teams. This is regardless of the fact that they could all be drawn against each other and that they will have a handicap start and that four bowlers will progress through to the Day of the Last 24. It would be good to reward Primrose Hill with a better response than this and also ensure that all the bowlers have at least one match before qualifying to progress.
As at 7pm on Thursday 1 February there had been a total of 116 entries received as per the listing below. Further down you will find a list of the closing dates. The dates are different for each division. There are two deadline dates in the next 7 days and they are Monday 5 February for Division 4 entries at Lindley Lib. Then the Division 6 Huddersfield RUFC deadline is next Thursday 8 February.

Qualifying Round
Each of the 6 Divisions stages their own qualifying competition with four qualifiers from each progressing to Finals Day 1. The dates vary and all are listed in the table below. Please note some of these dates have changed from an earlier publication. This year the draw will be made on matchday.
Finals Day 1 The Round of the Last 24 will be held at Lindley Lib from 1.00pm on Wednesday 10 April 2024. Bowling down to the Last 8 who progress to Finals Day 2. The draw for the rest of the competition will be made on matchday.
Finals Day 2 Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final to be held at Lindley Lib from 1.00pm on Sunday 14 April 2024.
The 2024 Winter Cup Individual Knock-Out competition is now open for entries. You can enter using the paper forms available at each host green or by using the online Entry Form at the foot of this posting. Either way you need to pay your £3 entry fee before your entry can be accepted.
Please check that you are available to play in all rounds before entering the competition. Bowlers must have played a minimum of 4 League matches during the season to be eligible to enter.
You can pay by cash or by BACS transfer (we do not accept cheques). The Winter League bank account details are:

County and Inter-District bowlers bowl off scratch in all rounds and their opponents have their handicap added as listed above. Otherwise, handicaps come into effect from the Quarter-Finals onwards.
