Preview of the Tuesday fixtures in Divisions 1 & 2 of the Veterans 10-Man League

A real top-of-the-table clash in Division 1 this week as second-placed Rastrick host the runaway leaders, Lowerhouses. With the insurance of a 20-points lead, the Lowerhouses team will not be letting up the pace as they protect a record of one defeat in 12 matches this season. Should Lowerhouses inflict a defeat on the Rastrick team, then Elland WMC are waiting on the sidelines to take full advantage by beating Marsh United A at home to move in on the runners-up spot.
Golcar Lib A have won as many away matches as they have at home this season and will be looking to improve on that when hosting an Elland C&BC that has lost its last three matches. Kirkheaton Con A have lost 4 of their last 5 fixtures and travel to play another team with exactly the same record in Lindley Lib A. Cowcliffe sit between those two and with an away match at Lockwood Con A will need a big win to move out of the relegation places. Losing away to the Lowerhouses side last week ended a four-match winning record for Clayton West and they will be aiming to reproduce the earlier form when hosting a Longwood team hovering above the relegation places at present.

Division 2 leaders Meltham A have a home match today against a Broad Oak A team that is in danger of dropping into the relegation places. They will not welcome a tough away match against the leaders, especially as the two teams below them both have home fixtures this week. Regardless of that bottom of the table Hemplow A will need more than home advantage to close the 20-point gap there is to safety. They have to face promotion-chasing Thongsbridge A and, with only one win all season, are facing their inevitable fate.
Netherton Con A are 2nd in the table with a home fixture against a struggling Milnsbridge A side so will be looking to at least match the Thongsbridge A result to maintain their four-points cushion over the chasing pack.
