Three teams thrown out of Team KO

Veterans League

It is the Round of the Last 16 in the Team Knock-Out competition this Thursday with three teams that thought they had won their Round 1 ties being eliminated for playing ineligible bowlers in their teams. In each case that individual or pairs games involving the non-qualified bowler saw their game score altered to 0-21 and in each case that caused a reverse of the team result. Lindley Lib B, Milnsbridge A and Lockwood Con A all played ineligible bowlers so losing their Round 1 matches to Thongsbridge A, Almondbury BC A and Linthwaite Hall. That also means that the all-Lindley Lib Round of the Last 16 tie will not now happen.

The top match of the round sees the all-Division 1 pairing of Longwood and Golcar Lib A topping the bill as they sit in 1st and 2nd places in the latest Division 1 table (although there is still one result to add to that table). These two teams have won this competition title between them for the last three years with Longwood the current defending Champions whilst Golcar Lib A won the title in 2022 and 2023.

Only 5 of the 16 teams still in contention are Division 1 teams and with at least one more to be eliminated in Thursdays set of fixtures this promises to be the most open competition for some while or maybe it will just be a stroll in the park for the proven winners in this format. Despite the elimination of Lindley Lib B there are still four teams from Division 3 involved and another 7 teams from Division 2 makes up the final 16 playing for the 2025 title.
