A review of the Division 3 results from Monday 7 February 2022
Lindley BC 'B' are almost the Division 3 Champions after an overwhelming if surprising 8-0 victory over the other title contenders. Thorpe Green 'C' sat at the top of the table before this week's matches due to a one-point better aggregate (803-802) and with the two teams level on 80-points apiece. This result catapults the Lindley outfit to the top of the table needing just one-point from their final match next week to claim the title.
Thorpe Green 'C' came into the match on the back of a 13-match unbeaten run which had seen them holding top spot since before Christmas. Lindley hadn't been top of the table at any point during the season except now which is when it really matters. The match had expected to be a close affair but that isn't how it turned out. Thorpe Green could only gather 21 points in total due to game losses to 9, 4 and 8. That being the third lowest points total in one match in any division all season.
Lindley BC 'B' inflicted a first defeat of the season on Dave McClean who still tops the Averages table and credit to Thorpe Green for sticking with their strict team rotation system which has served them well all season when there must have been a temptation to send out their top four bowlers in such a critical match. They will still get the promotion their efforts have won for them this season. For Lindley the final accolade of Division 3 Champions they merit for their dogged determination to stay in the race throughout a campaign not without its challenges for them. Congraulations to Lindley BC 'B'.

There was another big game played this week as well at the other end of the table with another surprise result. Bottom team Springwood 'B' overtook their nearest opponents, Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' with another 8-0 scoreline which pushed the winners off the bottom for the first time since the end of October. Springwood will have to wait a week to see if their efforts have been adequate enough to keep them off bottom spot in the final table as they have finished their fixtures now whilst the Recreation Club have one more match to acquire the 3 points that will pass the wooden spoon back to Springwood.
Dalton's 6-2 win over Brockholes enabled them to creep back into third place above Rastrick 'B' who didn't have a match this week. With just one defeat in their last 10 matches Dalton have steadily climbed the table since being second bottom at the end of October to attain their highest position of the season with a two-point cushion over Rastrick 'B' who they meet in the final match of the season on Valentine's Day.
Lowerhouses 'A' and Milnsbridge 'B' shared the points in a 4-4 draw marred by the withdrawal of a Lowerhouses bowler with a knee problem in the final game with the score 8-9 so enabling Milnsbridge to claim the aggregate and game points to draw the match. Up until then there had been two very close games with Lowerhouses holding a 5-point aggregate lead but the injury cost them dearly but made little difference to their league position.
