Thongsbridge progress in World Club KO

Bowling News

On Sunday Thongsbridge negotiated two rounds of competition to progress through to Finals Day of the 2023 BCGBA World Club Championships. They thrashed South Ramsey from the Isle of Man 166-97 in the opening round at Northwich, Cheshire. Going on to see off South Yorkshire side Bradfield 160-140 to qualify for the last day quarter-finals where they will meet Parkfield Labour (North Lancs & Fylde).

The win over Bradfield was a particularly good performance as Bradfield had eliminated the reigning Champions from Fenton Private (Potteries) 145-140 in the opening round. Fenton Private had only lifted the title last April as the BCGBA compressed two competition finals into the same calendar year to comply with their new rule that all competitions must be started and finished in the same year and not spread over two calendar years as has been past practice for this competition.

Three rounds of 8-person matches on Sunday 15 October await the two finalists with a potential all-Yorkshire semi-final line-up of Thongsbridge v Pudsey. All the Finals Day matches will be staged at the Manchester venue of Heaton Park. All the results to date are below along wi the full quarter-finals draw.
