Winter League
Two more rounds of Division 1 fixtures in the top two divisions with everything to play for at both ends of both divisions. Lower Hopton continue to hold the best hand with a 5-point lead over Thorpe Green 'A' but they will be very wary of this week's opposition having already lost 0-8 to Kirkheaton Cons once this season.
A similar result would open the way for the Thorpe Green side to take control with a match against bottom-of-the-table, Lindley BC 'A' this Wednesday. Below the two leaders is a titanic struggle between 5 teams all trying to avoid the second relegation spot with only 4 points between them.
Lindley Lib 'A' currently occupy the second relegation place and are missing their leading scorer for their final two matches, the first being against Meltham. New Millers v Clayton West completes the Wednesday programme with once again both teams fearful of a bottom-two finish.
It is a two-horse race in Division 2 as well with Lindley BC 'B' and Lowerhouses 'A' locked together on 62 points and 10 points ahead of third-placed Milnsbridge 'A'. Lindley BC haven't won any of their last three matches whilst Lowerhouses have won their last five by the same 6-2 scoreline so are clearly the form team in the division. The Lindley BC side take on Lockwood Con who they beat 6-2 earlier in the season. However, Lowerhouses face Jackson Bridge who they lost to 2-6 in December.
Jackson Bridge are desperate for the points as they sit in the second relegation place at present despite the best unbeaten run in the division now stretching to 7 games. They need to beat Denby Dale's result versus bottom-of-the-table Rastrick 'A' to move above them and on to safe land. It looks like there are 4 teams trying to avoid the second relegation place and they are just four points apart but the final day fixture of Jackson Bridge v Denby Dale could still be the relegation decider unless something dramatic happens this week.
