Veterans League
Thursday's Team Knock-Out Final will be held at Kirkheaton Cons after the club's co-greenkeeper, Tony Butterfield, offered sponsorship of the competition. With the two Lockwood Con teams falling at the penultimate stage the Final will be contested by two Division 1 teams, Cowcliffe and the defending Team KO Champions Golcar Lib 'A'.
The Cowcliffe team are in a terrible run of form having lost 8 of their last 9 League matches, the last two by the same 0-9 scoreline which has resulted in them falling into the bottom half of the table and only two points away from the probable third relegation place. Up until then, the team had featured almost exclusively in the top three.
The Golcar team is looking for a second successive League and KO double and the first half of that is surely already wrapped up as they hold a 26-points lead at the top of the Division 1 table. The Division 1 points difference between the two finalists is now 41 points which surely only points towards one winner of this Final. The Golcar side has to concede a 9-points handicap start that Cowcliffe hold with the 4 Singles and 3 Pairs League format prevailing although only the Aggregate score counts in determining the winner. In the event of a draw the team with the most wins will be declared the winner.
