Veterans League
Thursday sees the Last 16 teams in the Sub-Team KO take to the neutral greens to sort out which eight teams will progress to the quarter-finals to be played on Thursday 25 July. There are three Division 3 teams left in the Last 16 and all three have scratch handicaps and two of them face large deficits to overtake to progress in the competition.
The biggest mountain to climb rests with Paddock I&C who start the match 23 chalks behind the Netherton Con B who are the Division 5 leaders. Springwood are 18 chalks behind the Kirkheaton Con B team whilst Lindley Lib B side have only 5 chalks to find to draw level with Meltham B who sit second from bottom of the division below them.
As well as the three Division 3 representatives there are 7 from Division 4 and the remaining 6 all come from Division 5. Two of the Division 5 teams, Dalton and Kirkheaton C&BC B, have been drawn against each other guaranteeing at least one bottom division team in the quarter-finals, maybe more.
The competition format is the same as for League matches. Four singles and three pairs. The only difference being that the aggregate score determines the winners. In the event of the aggregates being level then the number of games won will determine the winner.
