Review of the Divisions 5 & 6 fixtures played on Thursday 14 December 2023
Slaithwaite have taken over at the top of the Division 5 table, a leap of three places, after a big 8-0 win over a struggling Netherton Con B team who are still looking for their first win of the season. Previous leaders Jackson Bridge were held to a commendable 4-4 draw by Mirfield A and that saw their reign at the top last for just 7 days as they drop to third place and end a run of five straight wins.
Springwood C went second by beating Almondbury BC B as things remain very tight with just 4 points between the top 5 teams as the Division 5 teams hit the half-season mark. Outlane beat Brockholes B and that means both teams are in the group of five congested together in the top order.
Things are very different in Division 6 as Linthwaite Hall continues to set the pace as they beat Broad Oak 6-2 which was the scoreline for all four Division 6 fixtures.
Linthwaite Hall now have a 14-points lead over Lockwood Con B who lead a group of three teams vying for the second promotion place at present. Lockwood Con B reversed places with third-placed New Mill C after beating them 6-2. The third member of that trio is Huddersfield RUFC who were surprisingly beaten by Golcar C&BC who inflicted a first defeat in four on their opponents. Cowcliffe B had a good 6-2 win over Kirkheaton Con B to complete Thursday's fixture programme.
