Veterans League Review of the matches played in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 of the 10-Man League on 5 August

The Division 3 leaders, Almondbury Lib, lose 3-6 whilst their two closest rivals both clock up 8-1 home wins which sees their lead drop from 12 points to 7 points in one week. That win for Holmfirth A over the leaders kept the winners in the frame for the promotion race and things are starting to look a little less 'done and dusted.' Brockholes A and Linthwaite Hall both extended their winning runs to three matches whilst the leaders have only managed one win in their last three, so things are beginning to look much more open.
Brockholes A and Linthwaite Hall are locked together on 77 points with three more teams in the 70's tucked in behind them. Wins for Brockholes A and Linthwaite Hall over mid-table opponents showed how the balance of power is shifting. Springwood are very much in that mix as well after a 6-3 away win over Lockwood Con B. Hemplow ended a three-match losing run when beating Slaithwaite 6-3
At the foot of the table the last team are Marsh Lib A who beat fellow strugglers Thorpe Green 7-2 to narrow the safety gap between them.

At the 15th time of asking Skel Windmill failed to find the right answer going down to a first Division 4 defeat of the season. So the ending of a 14-match winning run takes them to 100 points for the season, the first team in any of the Veterans League competitions to reach that landmark. They were beaten on the Huddersfield RUBC green by 3-6 but still hold a comfortable 24 points lead over Marsh United B and the Rugby Club. There were two notable wins for the chasers with the Rugby Club ending the leaders 100% win record and Marsh United hitting a 9-0 home win over Primrose Hill Lib.
The bottom two teams both saw defeat and both lost 3-6 with Netherton Con B losing at home to Thongsbridge B and David Brown Sports losing at Meltham B.

Kirkheaton Con B regained the Division 5 top spot from Brockholes B after an 8-1 home win over Holmfirth B, whilst the Brockholes team were inching past Broad Oak B by 5-4. Hemplow B hold on to third place after an emphatic 8-1 away success at Greenhead Park and Lindley BC B make it by 6 wins in their last 7 matches when winning away at Dalton by 5-4.
New Mill B are making a great attempt to move clear of the relegation places and a 6-3 away win at Almondbury BC B made it 3 wins in their last 4 fixtures to move them level on the 54-points marker along with Marsh Lib B and Holmfirth B.
