A review of the matches played on Monday 23 October in Divisions 3 & 4

Also included in this posting is:

  • news of some December fixtures in Division 3 being rescheduled

  • 3 more Division 4 team photographs

  • 8 action photos from a misty Lindley Lib on Monday

Marsh United completed a whitewash 8-0 Division 3 win over Lindley Lib B but that result doesn't tell the whole story. With the pairs first on and the Lindley Lib pair leading All-But 13 it looked ominous for the leaders. However a great fightback saw the Marsh pair take the next 8 points to run out 21-20 winners. But it wasn't finished there as a 21-19 win in one of the singles was never a stroll in the park but Bowlsnet shows it simply as an 8-0 win.

With the next two teams in the table, Hanging Heaton and Milnsbridge B, playing each other and taking points off each other it was a good time to for the Marsh team to extend their lead at the top to 6 points. Hanging Heaton beating Milnsbridge B by 6-2 but are now 8 points behind their opponents with a match in hand and 14 points behind the leaders.

There was a first win of the season for Paddock I&C and a first 5-3 scoreline of the season as they saw off Dalton with a drawn aggregate scoreline of 55-55 triggering the rare 5-3 result. There was also the first points of the season to Primrose Hill Lib but they still went down 2-6 to Rastrick who sit comfortably in mid-table.

New Mill B are going to be a force to be reckoned with in Division 4 as they go top after inflicting a second successive defeat on Lowerhouses B by 8-0. They have a 2 points lead over Lindley Lib C and Netherton Con A who both clocked up successsive 6-2 wins this week. Lindley Lib overcoming Almondbury BC A and the Netherton Con A side beating Springwood B. Milnsbridge C bounced back from their opening day defeat by beating the week one leaders Thorpe Green C by 6-2. That leaves 2 points separating the top three places and the four bottom teams all on the same 2 points total.

All Division 3 bowlers need to be aware of a change in their fixture programmes. All the matches scheduled for Primrose Hill Lib on Monday 11 December have now been rescheduled to be played on Monday 19 February 2024. This is due to the green not being available on that date. All the fixtures from that day have been moved en-bloc to the end of the season. Bowlsnet has been updated to include all the changes.

Three more team photographs from Division 4 teams are below. Four team photographs were posted earlier this month and can be viewed here. Just Kirkheaton C&BC and Lowerhouses teams still to add for the full Division 4 set.

Action photos from Primrose Hill Lib to follow tomorrow.

Another good turnout of spectators at both greens on Monday as I counted over 55 people on and around both greens. Bacon butties at Lindley and proper sausages and onions sarnies at Pip Hill which were both sampled and approved of.
