R.I.P. George Nash age 100

Rest in Peace

Sad to announce the passing of George Nash who died yesterday March 6th aged 100.

George had bowled at the ICI Sports Ground on Leeds Road through its many name changes to Huddersfield Recreation Club playing at Moldgreen and played for many years in the club's teams in the Huddersfield Veterans League.

Last year on April 18th at the game between Huddersfield Rec Club and Almondbury Lib, George was presented with a certificate by Richard Armitage of HVBA on the occasion of his 100th birthday which is pictured here..

George also played at Huddersfield Bridge Club until well into his 90's and had been a member of Fixby Golf Club as well as a keen snooker player.

I am grateful to George's teammates Brian Faichney and Bob Haigh for all this information and photograph.
