Veterans League
The poll started on Tuesday about the away teams being allocated a 15-minute pre-match practice session and has attracted 63 votes to date. Over half of the votes to date are against any change to the current rule and the full result is below after the preamble from Milnsbridge about why they put forward the rule change. The poll remains open until 9pm tonight.
Milnsbridge's case for change
It's a simple change that we feel would give all teams a fair chance of a positive result.
Simply that the away team is allowed a time slot of 15 minutes to practice on the home green before the match start time.
Many other leagues in the area allow both teams some practice time without any problems.
If the home team have unrestricted practice on match days then perhaps a 15 minute slot between 1.15pm and 1.30pm is not too much to ask for the away side to get a feel of the green they are about to bowl on.
POLL Do you agree that local leagues should be supporting the introduction of a 15-minute practice session for visiting teams prior to the start of league fixtures? After voting you are given the option to add a comment.
You can only VOTE once in this poll. You can VIEW the results as often as you like. Poll closes at 9.00pm Friday.
Of course the away team should be allowed a practise, what is frightening the "no practise" lobby they are having a practise as well aren't they ? And it's their green with every advantage that that holds to boot . I would suggest that the home team comes off the green 30 minutes before play starts and the away team then has 15 minutes with no practise within 15 minutes of the start of play.
Just wondering, where are the "many other leagues in the area" that operate the proposed system? I've played in six leagues around Huddersfield and never had chance to see this in action.
