Peter Muff 1992 - that was the year that was

Memories

Another dip back in time and this time to the Yorkshire CCGBA Centenary year of 1992 which includes an article by Peter Muff below. This goes back 30 years when Almondbury Con bowler, Gene Bardon, won the Yorkshire Merit title for a record-equalling 3rd time. It may have been Yorkshire's celebration year but it was Huddersfield bowlers who took the honours that year for as well as claiming the Yorkshire Merit title also coming back to Huddersfield was the Champion of Champions trophy won by Waterloo bowler Tony Young.

In addition, Huddersfield bowlers collected the two big County Handicap competitions through Ian Burgin (Lockwood Con) and Brian Morley (Slaithwaite C&BC). On the domestic scene, Slaithwaite lifted the Subscription Cup for the first time in 50 years and the Veterans League started a new Over-80's KO competition and that is before we start on recording the ladies' achievements where Outlane was the top local team. All the details follow.
