Parking at Lockwood Con

Winter League

Parking the car prior to playing matches at Lockwood Con has been a problem for some for a number of years. It is not only finding a place to park but then having to cross busy roads to arrive safely as well. And things have just got more difficult for Division 8 teams playing their opening matches this Tuesday.

There are some major roadworks being undertaken in the area which has produced a new set of traffic lights on Lockwood Road and new priority routes at Lockwood crossroads. Having negotiated the crossroads recently I cannot believe that this is an improvement on the previous set up. Leave yourself plenty of time to ensure you are not late because I expect the new set up will delay most of you.

The map below shows a new back entrance to the green through a ginnel between numbers 175 and 177 Victoria Road. There is free on-street parking on Victoria Road and Armytage Crescent with easy access direct to the Lockwood Con green. It is a new gated entrance which will be unlocked each matchday by 10.30am. Lockwood Con are very keen to provide an enjoyable experience to all Division 8 Winter League bowlers playing on their green and this is one example of a new facility to help.

Victoria Road is the second on the right on Swan Lane driving from Lockwood traffic lights and just before the Dixons Ice-cream shop. The Lockwood Con green is bang in the centre of this map below. All bowlers are asked to ensure that they don't upset the club's neighbours by poor parking on the pavements or blocking of driveways.
