Veterans League
It is Finals Day in the Veterans League Open Pairs KO to be staged at Almondbury Lib this afternoon starting at 1.30pm. Eight different clubs are represented as the final three rounds of the competition will be played out this afternoon. Those eight include the defending Champions, Tim Poulter and Edwin Haigh of Clayton West, who collected the title when it was last played in 2019.
A reminder from past learning of the long session that often goes with the later stages of any of the individual and pairs competitions is to look after your body. Take plenty of fluids is the best solution to reduce cramp and dizziness. Eddie Haigh won the Over-70's KO recently and learnt the lesson of drinking alcohol instead of water and says that he wont be doing that again. That was on the hottest day of the year so far and whilst the weather may not reach those temperatures the pairs session could be over 4 hours long so be careful.
