Review of the Divisions 1&2 Veterans 10-Man League matches played on 15 July

The top two Division 1 teams continue to plough a straight furrow of winning results as both won away fixtures this week. A 6-3 win for Lowerhouses was trumped by Longwood winning 7-2 away at Rastrick and inflicting a first home defeat of the season on the hosts.
Golcar Lib A started the season with an 8-1 away win over Cowcliffe but the return match was a very different story as Cowcliffe turned the result around with a 6-3 away win at Golcar. Cowcliffe stay third but the gap between 2nd and 3rd widens to 9 points. With only one win from their last 5 fixtures the Golcar side are slipping down the table and drop from 4th to 7th this week.
With 7-2 home wins for Clayton West, Lockwood Con A and Kirkheaton Con A these three teams now assemble in order behind the top three. The bottom two teams are looking further off the pace with Waterloo 17 points from safety and Meltham B 8 points from firmer ground.

Great home wins for the top two Division 2 teams put two challengers back down the pecking order as Elland C&BC hold on to top spot after a 6-1 win over Lindley BC A who actually move up a place to 5th despite that loss. Even more impressive was Elland WMC in beating Thongsbridge A by 8-1 which saw the losers drop from 4th to 6th. Broad Oak A took advantage of those results to move third by beating and overtaking Shepley A. Despite that win they remain well off the pace of the top two who now have a lead of 13 points behind the leading pair.
Only one winner in the bottom four and that was Netherton Con A who saw off Golcar Lib B. However there was no change in the running order in that bottom four but the gap between them has narrowed slightly and is back down to 10 points
