Winter League
This is the final call for Winter League bowlers to enter the first holding of the competition for the Winter Cup with a new earlier start time for the Milnsbridge leg of the competition. The opening round draws will be made on Wednesday of this week at the League's End-of-Season meeting. Entry Form at the foot of this page.
CLOSING DATE 22 MARCH - DRAW TO BE MADE 23 MARCH
Even though the Winter League season has now finished there is still one competition that has still to be completed. This is the individual knock-out competition for the newly donated Winter Cup. Online entries are still being taken with the deadline being Tuesday 22 March with the draw for the first round being made at the Clubs End of Season Meeting on Wednesday 23 March.
We already have 62 entries for this event which will take place over the first two weeks in April. Twenty-eight of those entries are from Division 1 bowlers with 17 from Division 2 and 17 from Division 3. Individuals will be competing for the brand new trophy generously funded by Garry Senior and Tony Butterfield of Kirkheaton Cons.
Please note that due to the high number of entries for the Division 1 qualifying round at Milnsbridge BC that this will now start at 12noon. The rounds at Springwood and Thorpe Green will start at 1.00pm. All bowlers should register their attendance at their respective greens before the advertised start time.
You can still enter using the online form at the foot of this posting. The last day for entries is Tuesday 22 March with the draw being made at the End of Season meeting of all teams on Wednesday 23 March.
It is a brand new straight knock-out competition for individual bowlers who have played a minimum of four league matches over the course of this season. An entry fee of £3 per bowler is being levied. Just think what it will mean in the future if you become the first winner of this competition and have your name engraved on the trophy.
It was hoped to run the competition as part of the League season but we ran out of time so the whole event will be completed over the first two weeks in April. In future years we expect to build the competition into the fixture programme during the winter season.
The format is that there will be three qualifying days - one for each division of the League to be staged on the usual home green of that division. If your name isn't listed below then we currently don't have you entered in this year's competition but it is not too late. The Entry Form is at the foot of this posting.
