New Mill stretch lead at top of Division 3

Review of the Tuesday Divisions 3,4&5 10-Man League results

A good 7-2 home win for New Mill A over their Division 3 title-chasing rivals, Linthwaite Hall, opened up a 14-point lead for the Millers over Golcar Lib B who go third after a 6-3 away win over Paddock I&C. That was a 7th win in their last nine fixtures for the leaders who look increasingly nailed on for the title this year. Who will go up with them is more uncertain with just two points between the three contenders, Golcar Lib B, Linthwaite Hall and Brockholes A who are the next team to confront the leaders. The Brockholes team will welcome the leaders in good heart after an 8-1 away win over Springwood last Tuesday.

It is equally as tight at the foot of the table with 8 points separating 6 teams. The relegation tentacles could stretch as high as 5th placed Thorpe Green who are only 9 points ahead of the second relegation place held by Slaithwaite. Lindley Lib B are in a bad run with only one win in their last 7 matches with a 3-6 home hammering to Kirkheaton C&BC A the latest in that sequence.

Marsh Lib A warmed up for their Bistro KO Final with an emphatic Division 4 home win by 8-1 over strugglers David Brown Sports. Kirkheaton Con B kept the pressure on the leaders by beating Milnsbridge B at home 6-3 sees them two points behind the leaders but with a match in hand. A good 6-3 away win for Thongsbridge B kept them firmly in the promotion picture but saw their opponents, Ravensknowle Park, in a bottom three teams fighting for survival. Bottom team, Brockholes B, look increasingly likely to drop out of sight after losing their last six fixtures the latest being a 2-7 home defeat to Meltham B.

It was a good day for Division 5 team Primrose Hill Lib as a 6-3 home win over 2nd placed Broad Oak B pushed them right into the promotion picture as they go third, seven points off the second promotion place. Netherton Con B continue to set the pace at the top of the table despite a 3-6 away defeat at Holmfirth B and their precarious lead remains at one point ahead of the Broad Oak B side.

A first away win of the season for Marsh Lib B, 7-2 at Dalton and the only away winners on the day, which shuffled the four wooden spoon contenders who are now separated by two points. Two of those contenders, Almondbury BC B and Greenhead Park met each other with a close game ending in favour of the home team by 5-4.
