Memories
This is a variation on our Name The Green competition and this is a Christmas week special. It has always struck me how many rollers there are abandoned around various club greens never to be used again but too big to disposed of. So they adorn the fringes of our green and memories as we come across them most weeks but fail to register which green they can be associated with.
Often they are tucked away between two sheds or hidden in the long grass but usually they are propped up against a boundary wall. Wherever they are they are not easily associated with any one particular green. How are your powers of observation?
Just for Christmas week I have seven old rollers, one a day, in various states of decay but usually well abandoned to challenge you to name the green where these rollers are seeing out their days. The answers to all seven will not be revealed until after all seven have been posted online.
Today we have a roller that goes against the trend as it is a well-preserved roller displayed with some pride at one local green. I am grateful to David Sykes of Brockholes BC for sending me this photo but you should not take the cameraman's identity as a clue to the home of the roller.
Did you miss yesterday's Name the Roller's Green No.1? Well scroll down to see it now and there is still time to submit your best guess before the deadline. All correct answers will get a name-check at the end of the 7 days of competition.
Send your best guess to me at jefftheref2000@yahoo.co.uk for a name check on all those who correctly identify where this piece of one key green maintenance tool now resides. No prizes, just for fun. Please don't leave your answer anywhere else as this can spoil the fun for later visitors.
