The Chief Executive of the Yorkshire CCGBA, Steve Cochrane, has asked me to help improve communications with the county organisation and clubs within the Huddersfield area. His office want to use the HuddWeb website as a means to spread messages from the ruling body with the people responsible for running clubs in the area. The county knows that these important messages are not currently being shared with all clubs.
I am happy to do that, anything that improves communications has got to be a step forward from where we are now. That doesn't mean I will be agreeing with everything that is passed along the pipeline or that I wont still be critical if I don't like some of the things being communicated. But if it helps clubs be more aware of what the County is saying then at least they can make their own minds up once they have all the facts rather than the present arrangement of belated Chinese whispers soiling any chance of any well-informed straight talking.
I do not have a role within YCCGBA I just happen to have the best communications tool (www.huddweb.co.uk) and the will to help clubs in the area and it is appropriate to use that for the benefit of clubs in Huddersfield. Previously I was grateful for, and relied upon, copy of such communications from a Haliax source where they are more organised in sharing important documents and edicts among the clubs. Now I should be receiving them direct from the original author.
The 'memo' below is the first such communication and comes from the YCCGBA Chief Executive dated 3 May 2023. It advises clubs of a further increase in charges for new BCGBA membership registration. Last year it was £12.50 for each new bowler. The YCCGBA and the BCGBA have both increased the cost of their share of processing of such registrations this year. Now it is £16.50. That represents a 32% increase along with a 25% increase (£4 to £5) for any replacement BCGBA Registration Card requests.
In addition the 'memo' gives clubs a new deadline of 8 May to pay their 2023 YCCGBA fees. It appears that the previous 1 April deadline has been widely ignored or maybe clubs didn't even get the message through the previous communications network.
At the end of message there is a reference to a “Just Go” Membership system. I have looked up “Just Go Bowling” and this links to the BCGBA. It all reads a bit like something out of “1984” and “Big Brother is watching you.” Anyone know anything more about this?
