Lowerhouses double Division 1 lead

Veterans League

Review of the Tuesday results in Divisions 1&2 of the 10-Man League

Lowerhouses doubled their lead at the top of the Division 1 table from 5 to 10 points ahead of Kirkheaton Con A. An 8-1 home win over Cowcliffe coupled with a 3-6 away defeat for the Kirkheaton team saw that lead double. There is a line of eight teams queueing up behind the leaders separated by 6 points but all well off the pace being set by the leaders.

Longwood have been the runners-up behind Lowerhouses for the last two seasons but that may be changing as they languish in 6th place at present after a 2-7 defeat away at Elland C&BC who go third as a result of that outcome. Lindley Lib A are 4th after a commendable 6-3 away win at Lockwood Con A. A notable 6-3 away win for Marsh United A at Rastrick pushed them up two places to eighth and a well deserved first win of the season for Clayton West didn't lift them off the foot of the table but will have lifted their spirits no end.

A great 8-1 home win for Netherton Con A over 4th placed Denby Dale in Division 2 sees the leaders now having a 4 points lead. The chasing pack are a little stretched out as Waterloo drop a place to third after losing 3-6 at Meltham A who overtake them to go second. Thongsbridge A move into contention with a 7-2 home win over bottom of the table Broad Oak A. The six teams in the bottom half of the table all keep the positions they were in before the start of this week's fixture programme.

The two occupying the relegation places are Hemplow A and Broad Oak A and both suffered 2-7 defeats this Tuesday. The Hemplow team losing at home to Almondbury BC A and Broad Oak away to Thongsbridge A. The two teams immediately above them are Milnsbridge A and Shepley who faced each other with Milnsbridge making home advantage pay with a 7-2 win and that puts them 6 points ahead of the bottom three.
