Winter League
A preview of the Divisions 1 & 2 fixtures scheduled to be played on Wednesday 8 November

A couple of very intriguing Division 1 matches lined up for this week as current leaders New Mill A take on Lower Hopton who have made the worst possible start to the defence of their Champions title. New Mill have taken the maximum 8 points from both matches so far whilst Lower Hopton have suffered heavy defeats to start their season and will be keen to get their season back on track.
That won't be easy against the in-form New Mill side who need to keep winning to ward off the challenges of Clayton West and Thorpe Green. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams meet each other this Wednesday and at least one of their 100% winning records will have to go. A 4-4 draw would see both winning records end.
Meltham finished last season in third place and will be keen to get some points on the board after their opening day whitewash defeat. They will see Lowerhouses as an opponent they should expect to take points off. Lindley BC A versus Kirkheaton Con A completes the week's programme.
There is a 1st v 3rd clash in Division 2 this week as Cowcliffe A meet Lindley Lib A, teams with very different Winter League histories. The Cowcliffe team are new to the League and have made an excellent start to their first season winning both their opening fixtures. Lindley Lib joined the League for it's second season and immediately won promotion from Division 2. They came straight back down again last season and are intent on a quick return this time around. This will be a good test of the Cowcliffe team's credentials.
Milnsbridge A sit between those two teams at present and could go top if results go their way. They need to fulfil their obligation win if that outcome is to materialise and Lockwood Con A stand in their way of achieving that. Springwood A will be looking to extend their winning start to the season when taking on Huddersfield Recreation Club A who are looking for their first win of the season.
The Recreation Club are original members of the League and each season so far they have either been promoted or relegated and nothing that has happened this season so far suggests that this record is likely to change. The final Division 2 fixture sees a first-ever meeting of Brockholes A v Lindley BC B with both teams looking at this meeting as a great chance to open their winning account for the new season.
