Winter League A preview of the Division 3 & 4 fixtures for Monday 30 January
It is the final day of the season for the teams in Divisions 3 and 4 with the Division 4 climax finely balanced with a single point between the B teams from Milnsbridge and Lindley Lib. Milnsbridge will be very wary of their opponents Marsh Lib after losing to them earlier in the season whilst Lindley Lib are a point adrift at the outset.
The bottom two teams are already relegated and they meet each other before dropping a level. An 8-0 win is required by the Recreation Club 'B' team to reverse their placings with Paddock I&C 'B'.
This Monday is also the final day of the season for the Division 3 teams with leaders Brockholes 'A' needing 2 points from their match against Thorpe Green 'B' to add the title to their already-gained promotion. Going up with them are Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' who are also already promoted and need an 8-0 win over Dalton and a Brockholes collapse to add the title as well.
Matters at the other end of the table are already resolved with Springwood 'B' and Almondbury BC 'A' both going down to Division 4 where they could meet up next season with their 'B' team as they currently head the Division 5 table.
It is hoped to present the two title winners with their trophies immediately upon conclusion of the day's matches so that their season-long opponents can applaud the winners' achievements.
The race for the Division 3 Top Bowler award could see a Brockholes double with David Walls needing a final-day win to confirm that position. His teammate, Michael Bell, is hovering in second place in case David slips up. That should then be added to the expected team's title-winning achievement to complete a most satisfactory second campaign for the Brockholes 'A' side.
The Division 4 Top Bowler competition is between the current top three in the table below. The positions are based on 'Number of Wins' and where that is level then it comes down to the individual Averages. The scores are Singles and Pairs scores combined.
