Landfill Communities Fund (video)

One of the biggest untapped sources of funding for sports organisations is from Landfill Companies. The government has provided tax incentives for landfill companies to fund local community projects so instead of paying tax from their profits they can donate funding to local communities and oversee the development and proper use of such funds and projects.

The landfill companies have got themselves properly organised with an overseeing body called ENTRUST to ensure that schemes are properly considered, funded, managed and delivered within the rules that they have to operate. There are £millions that are being distributed to local community projects with major sport-related schemes being consistent beneficiaries.

They also provide free training to organisations and individuals about the bidding process to give such schemes the best possible chance of being accepted.

There are two methods of receiving funding through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF).

  • from an Environmental Body (EB) that distributes the monies on a Landfill Operator's behalf (a distributive Environmental Body); or

  • directly from a Landfill Operator (LO) based in England or Northern Ireland.

The majority of projects receive funding via a distributive EB and ENTRUST recommends applying to these organisations before seeking funding directly from a Landfill Operator.

The 3-minute video below introduces ENTRUST to you.
