Bowling News
I am now aware that Kirklees Council are making steps towards some of the bowling clubs who use their greens either through park arrangements or through leased club greens. These steps involve fitting meters to water and electricity supplies on individual greens. There can only be one reason for them to do that with the obvious next step being to recharge the clubs involved based on how much water and electricity they use when it has probably not been monitored in the past.
I know of one club who believe that there would be merit in clubs that have Kirklees links getting together to share experiences and work together in securing their futures. It could also be of benefit to Kirklees in that they could just address one body rather than several different clubs spread around the Kirklees footprint.
The obvious first step is to identify all the greens that either belong to Kirlees Council or are leased out to indivdual clubs. Once that list has been compiled there may be value in looking how they can work together in the future. I am aware of the following bowling clubs where their greens are leased by Kirklees to these clubs - Primrose Hill Lib, Springwood, Clayton West and Mirfield C&BC. I am sure that there are a number more. If your green is leased from Kirklees Council perhaps you would let me know and that would help the clubs involved become aware of how big and powerful they may become in protecting their futures.
In addition there are clubs that use Kirklees park greens which I believe include , Ravensknowle Park, Earlsheaton Park, Birkinshaw Park, Mirfield Parish, Rock House Park, Scratcherd Park, Staincliffe Park and Royds Park. Happy to be corrected on any of these, or any on the previous list, if they are incorrect. Also pleased to learn of any other clubs that rely on Kirklees Council owned greens. Park or Leased please let me know of any Kirklees Council connection. This information is only to be used for the purpose of teams sharing experiences and to look at opportunities for working together to protect their futures.
