Julie Fuller Trophy Quarter-Finals on Monday

Veterans League

ree

The last eight teams in the 2025 Julie Fuller Trophy compete this Monday for places in the semi-finals.

Amongst that eight is the unlikely Greenhead Park B team and however unlikely that might seem for the Divisiion 4 outfit they are there on merit after disposing of their A side by 65-62 and then in the last round seeing off Division 2 strugglers Longwood by 71-60.

This Monday they are at Holmfirth BC where they have Division 1 opposition in the form of Shepley A where the 16-point handicap advantage could prove to be the decisive factor in the outcome.

There is just one all-Division 1 encounter lined up as Thongsbridge A will be aiming to repeat their 5-2 away league win over Golcar C&BC when the teams meet at Almondbury.

The Golcar team are struggling this year and sit in the second relegation place at present but have inherited a +1 handicap from last season. With Thongsbridge A having a better season and sit 4th in the table but with a +3 handicap advantage will start out as favourites to progress.

The other two quarter-final ties produce good Division 1 versus Division 2 encounters with the top two teams from Division 1 meeting Division 2 high-flyers keen to test out their Division 1 credentials for next season.

The Division 1 leaders are Clayton West A and they take on Lindley Lib A who sit in 2nd place in Division 2. The teams swapped divisions at the end of last season with Clayton West going up as the Division 2 Champions and Lindley Lib A a victim of reorganisation and losing their Division 1 status despite finishing in 11th of 14 places last year.

They are well placed to rectify that this year and currently sit in 2nd place in Division 2. One place behind them is Broad Oak enjoying their first season in the 6-Man League. Having disposed of Division 1 opponents, Brockholes A, in the earlier Round of 32 they will welcome the opportunity of another top-flight opponent to test their potential against. They wont come much more of a challenge than 2nd in the table Marsh United A so it will be interesting to see the outcome of that meeting at Slaithwaite.
