Julie Fuller Trophy line-up for Monday

Veterans League

Time for the only team competition in the 6-Man League with the opening rounds of the Julie Fuller Trophy starting on Monday. This team knock-out competition in the Veterans 6-Man League is for the well-established Julie Fuller Trophy. The six-man teams play in three pairs which is always a bit of a leveller with many 6-man team bowlers having had very little experience of playing in pairs. Throw in a new handicapping system this season and we have a competition ripe for surprise results.

New Mill A are the defending Champions and they play Holmfirth A in the first defence of their title. The New Mill A side have struggled to get a foothold on results after their promotion to the top level and have lost all three of their opening fixtures. Just the opposite for their Monday opponents, Holmfirth A who have won all three league fixtures this season to sit proudly at the top of the Division 2 table. Last year the New Mill team completed a League double over their Holmfirth opponents but you wouldn't bet on a repeat this year especially as the Holmfirth side have a handicap advantage of 3 points.

New Mill have entered a B team into the League this season and their first experience of the Julie Fuller Trophy is a tie against the team that lost to their A team in the final last year, Waterloo. A 12-points handicap advantage may not be enough to close the gap between the teams as the New Mill team sit at the bottom of Division 4 whilst Waterloo are 4th in the top Division.

The full Preliminary Round line-up is below and it is noticeable that there isn't one all-Division 1 clash in that draw so there will not be any Division 1 casualties at this stage.
