Veterans League
Not a good week for the Huddersfield Veterans Inter-District teams as they went down 27-29 to Bradford and drop to fourth place in the table. With only one more round of fixtures to come they have to give up any distant hopes of passing the leaders. Leeds have a 23-point lead over 2nd placed Aire & Wharfe, who have already played their final fixture.
Friday's result was disappointing as the Bradford team have struggled this year and this was only their second win of the season. It is conceivable that our team could be overtaken by the Halifax side, who are 13 points behind our team but play lowly Wakefield in their final match. However the Wakefield team had a commendable result when they went down 25-31 to the Leeds team who are the champions-in-waiting.
The West Riding team took over 3rd place after a good 38-18 win over Skipton and they take on the Huddersfield team in the final fixture on 5 September. With just 5 points between them it is likely that the winner of that final match will claim 2nd place in the table.
