Inter-District opening day win for Huddersfield

League News

The Huddersfield Inter-District teams got off to a winning start with a superior overall 288-263 aggregate score which equated to a 32-24 points win. The home side were involved in the closest fought fixture of the opening day of the season with a 138-137 win which boiled down to a 14-14 draw on points in the complex scoring system. The away team performed most creditably winning the game score 5-3 and an 18-10 points win.

That left our team in third position in the first table of the season but 9 points behind the Halifax team who lead the way after a 41-15 win over West Riding. Bradford are second and last season's Champions, Leeds, are fourth after a 32-24 win over the new team from Aire & Wharfe who put up a commendable debut performance.

With nine teams in the competition it means that one team sits out each matchday with Wakefield the first to have the day off. The next round of fixtures is Friday 17 May when the Huddersfield team take on Leeds and the top two teams, Halifax and Bradford face each other. All the match results, table, individual performances and the next round of fixtures are all provided below.
