Inter-District moves into top gear

Huddersfield has named the same eight-man team for the home leg of the next Veterans Inter-District League match which is versus Castleford and will be again played at Thongsbridge. The home team is J Bloomer, R Dickinson, B Gibson, S Haigh, P Kain, G Sigsworth, R Whitwam, A Wike, Reserve: A Bamforth. There is a 1.00pm start time this Friday (19 May).

The team for the away match hasn’t been released to date but the game will be played at Savile Park, Castleford, WF10 5LD.

Week 2 of the Veterans Inter-District League season is this Friday with a breakaway three-team group looking to lengthen their lead over the chasing pack. It is very tight at the top of the first Inter-District League table of the season with three points separating the top three teams which includes last year's Champions West Riding. They had a solid start to the season beating Castleford 43-13 to take third place whilst Bradford also had a strong start to the season when beating Wakefield 46-10 to head the table.

A heartening 45-11 opening day win for our teams sees our representative team dividing the other two top three teams as we enter week 2 of the 2023 competition. Whilst our teams go up against Castleford the West Riding team taking on bottom of the table, Wakefield. Leaders Bradford take on last year's runners-up, Halifax, who were surprisingly beaten on the opening day by a rejuvenated Leeds team returning to the competition for the first time since the Covid interruptions.
