In-form Jackson Bridge take on the leaders

Winter League

A preview of Division 2 matches to be played on Wednesday 24 November

The in-form Jackson Bridge team will be aiming to end another team's unbeaten record this week when they take on Meltham in the Division 2 fixture at Springwood. After last week's demolition of the Springwood 'A' teams winning record they will be aiming to extend that form to further their own chances of a promotion place this Wednesday.

Whatever the outcome of that match Jackson Bridge will not be able to overtake Lindley Lib who have taken to Winter League bowling like a duck to water with three 8-0 wins in their five opening matches where they have only been beaten narrowly by the table-topping Meltham side. This week they will be looking to reduce the gap to the leaders when they take on bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' who would be delighted to claim their first win of the season.

Springwood 'A' will be looking to their bouncibility factor as a positive reaction to their first defeat of the season suffered last week when they meet Paddock I&C this Wednesday. With none of their nine bowlers playing more than 2 matches to date you are never quite sure what team they will be fielding but any Springwood team on their own green is bound to be a formidable challenge.

The same can be said of Almondbury BC who have played 10 different bowlers so far with not one of them playing more than twice as they share out the winter bowling experience. This week they meet the Thorpe Green 'B' team. The three Thorpe Green sides in the League have already played 21 different bowlers in their teams. Whatever foursome they put out representing their 'B' team this week will be looking to build on the difficult set of fixtures they have faced in their introduction to the league which has included three of the top four teams. They have already shown that they are capable of competing at this level and will be looking to prove that again this week.

It all happens with a 12noon start time on Wednesday on the Springwood green where a warm welcome will be given to all spectators and refreshments available to all.
