Veterans League
Our Inter-District team drew their match with West Riding 28-28 on Friday but have conceded their position at the top of the table to a resurgent Leeds team who beat Castleford 39-17. Leeds have returned to the competition this year for the first time since 2019 and seem to have come back with a totally different mindset. In previous seasons they have never been a force at Inter-District level but this year have already beaten Halifax and Bradford both top contenders before thrashing Castleford to produce a 2-point lead over our representative team.
Our team drew 28-28 with last year's Champions, West Riding, which was a good result and certainly enough to frustrate a West Riding team hoping to gatecrash the race for the 2023 title after an indifferent start to the season. They had won their first two fixtures but not by the expected margins and are now 13 points adrift of the title race in third place.
The Halifax team returned to form with a big win over Wakefield but are already well off the pace to be considered a major threat for the title this season whilst Bradford will be disappointed about their share of the points in their match against Skipton.
