Holmfirth riding high in Division 7

Preview of the Division 7 matches being played on Thursday at the Rugby Club

Some things are going to get sorted out this week in Division 7 as the top four teams play each other and the same in the bottom half of the table. In all probability two of the top four will extend their winning start to the season and two will lose for the first time. Of course having said that the two matches could end in draws making a nonsense of my prediction. Again it could be the same for the bottom four teams, Kirkheaton Con B and New Mill C face each other having both lost their opening day matches last Thursday. Then Broad Oak A and Lockwood Con B also go up against each other with Broad Oak particularly keen to put a 0-8 opening day defeat behind them.

In the top half of the table, the surprise (to me) leaders, Holmfirth, take on Huddersfield Recreation Club B whilst my tip for the title, Marsh Lib A, meet third-placed Huddersfield RUFC. The Holmfirth team did really well last week in their first week on the RUFC green against Broad Oak B who have played on this green for the last two seasons. But that advantage never paid off as they were swept aside by the Holmfirth side. Plenty for all 8 teams to play for and it is not the end of the seaon for the losers either with lots of Thursdays to come up before the end of February.
