Review of the Divisions 1&2 Veterans 10-Man League matches played on 15 July

Almondbury Lib are surging away from the rest of the teams in Division 3 after a 7-2 home win over third-placed Brockholes A on Tuesday. That coupled with secong-placed Hemplow A losing their match at Lindley Lib B by 3-6 sees the leaders extend their lead from 7 to 11 points.
Holmfirth A force themselves into the promotion picture jumping from 6th to 3rd position following a whitewash 9-0 home win over Lockwood Con A. Four points now separate the four teams lining up behind the runaway leaders with one target and one place in mind - the second promotion spot. Linthwaite Hall and Springwood are very much in that picture and when the teams met at Springwood on Tuesday a 6-3 win for the hometeam ensured that things are going to remain very fluent over the coming weeks.
Paddock I&C posted a second successive win for the first time this season when beating Marsh Lib A 8-1 who remain firmly anchored to the foot of the table. Thorpe Green lifted themselves out of the relegation places after collecting four points from their trip to play Slaithwaite, condemning the whitewashed Lockwood Con team to that second relegation place for now.

Another round of Tuesday fixtures in Division 4 means another big win for Skel Windmill
with a second successive 9-0 win with Huddersfield Recreation Club being on the wrong end of that scoreline this week. That increases their lead from 16 to 19 points with Kirkheaton C&BC A holding on to 2nd place with a 6-3 home win over Milnsbridge B.
The same winning score for Marsh United B over bottom team Netherton Con B keeps them in the race for the 2nd promotion place which is becoming a two-team race as the next three teams all lost ground this week. Defeats for Huddersfield RUBC (2-7 at Primrose Hill Lib) and Thongsbridge B (4-5 at home to Meltham B) along with Milnsbridge's defeat.
Four of the bottom six teams won their fixtures this week with Ravensknowle Park getting a 5-4 away win at David Brown Sports adding to those already recorded above. All that sees no change in the running order of the bottom three but things are becoming more congested with 6 points separating the six teams sitting above bottom of the table Netherton Con B.

The top four teams in Division 5 clashed this week with the two away teams coming away with the points with Kirkheaton Con B winning the meeting of the top two with a 6-3 away win at Brockholes B to open up a 3-points lead over Dalton who won 7-2 at Hemplow B. Dalton force themselves into second position but otherwise the top four remain the same four teams fighting it out for the title and the two promotion places.
Home wins for two of the bottom three teams with the key one being a 7-2 home win for New Mill B over Holmfirth B sent the losers to the foot of the table. Almondbury BC B recorded a fine 7-2 away win at Lindley BC B to lift thmeselves out of immediate threat leaving the bottom four teams separated by 3 points. That trio includes Kirkheaton C&BC B who lost away at Greenhead Park by 3-6.
