Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures for Monday 12 May
This week's preview of the 6-Man League fixture programme selects a Match of the Day in each of the four divisions, which is probably not a good thing to attempt to do when there are no clashes between the top two teams in any division, but I am up for the challenge.

Division 1 Match of the Day
Golcar C&BC (11th) v Clayton West (1st) I really struggled to come up with a sensible top match for Division 1 this Monday but eventually settled for a confrontation of the top team and a team in the relegation places as clearly the outcome is key for both teams. Golcar C&BC have lost all four of their fixtures this season, the only team not to win a match to date. Clayton West are enjoying their return to the top level and the only match they have lost was away to top four rivals Waterloo and that was by the 3-4 scoreline which was determined by a 81-80 aggregate defeat. I cannot see anything other than a win for the leaders but Golcar C&BC have underperformed this season after finishing in 5th place last year and maybe they have something in reserve that could be triggered by meeting the leaders. I am hopeful.

Division 2 Match of the Day
Thongsbridge B (11th) v Holmfirth A (1st)
I have been tempted into selecting another top versus bottom encounter as my best match in Division 2 this week. With a 3-points lead at the top of the table and with 2nd placed Marsh Lib A without a fixture this week, Holmfirth A have a great opportunity to put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack. Still with the only Division 2 100% win record which they must surely extend this Monday. The Thongsbridge team haven't shown any of the form that got them promotion from Division 3 last season and this will be the ultimate test for them.

Division 3 Match of the Day
Marsh Lib B (2nd) v Primrose Hill Lib (3rd)
If one of these two teams is to emerge as the major title threat to Almondbury Lib then now is the time to start to show some of that potential. The loser of this fixture will see themselves at a distinct disadvantage in mounting a promotion challenge. Both teams have only lost one match and in both cases it was an away fixture, so the away side, the Pip Hill team, are probably at a disadvantage in that respect.

Division 4 Match of the Day Skel Windmill B (9th) v Meltham (10th)
These two teams are locked together on 10 points after playing three matches so far with just an 8-points Aggregate For total separating them. That is despite the Skel team having won 2 of their 3 fixtures whilst the Meltham team have only won one of their three. The sole Skel defeat was at home to the leaders, Hemplow B. Whilst their two wins were both achieved when playing away from home so making them all the more significant. Then compare the solitary win for Meltham was claimed away from home so make of all that what you like but as far as I am concerned the points are there to be won by the best team on the day. Whilst the teams occupy the two poositions above the bottom team but with no relegation to influence their playing pattern it is up to the team that can motivate themselves the most that is likely to pick up the majority of the seven points on offer.
