Four Division 6 teams share top spot

Winter League

Review of the matches played in Division 6 yesterday at the Rugby Club

There are 9 teams in Division 6 of the Winter League and 4 of those 9 share top spot today with all of them on 10 points after two matches. The way that things have panned out means that none of the 9 teams has a 100% win record after just two weeks of the season which is quite remarkable and augers well for close run title and promotion races to come.

New Mill C started the day on their own at the top of the table but a 2-6 defeat by Lockwood Con B enabled them to go level top as well. However it was a close run thing with only one aggregate point (54-53) separating the teams and seeing those 2 extra points going the way of the victors. The host club's team, Huddersfield RUFC, claimed a good 6-2 home win over Golcar C&BC to join in the fun at the top of the table along with Linthwaite Hall who welcomed Broad Oak to Winter League bowling by beating them 6-2. Cowcliffe B bounced back from their opening day 'dry-rub' by claiming their own white-wash win by beating Kirkheaton Con B 8-0.

Another 60+ attendance enjoyed the sunshine, banter and hospitality of the host club which once again made for a good day of Winter League bowling. Next Thursday sees the Division 5 fixture programme kick-off at Netherton Con where the elements tend to save their most challenging weather conditions based on last season's experience. Should the Thursday inclement weather materialise then the Rugby Club is well provided for in terms of cover with ample undercover seating areas. Spectators can even remain in their cars to follow the action if they wish.

Tomorrow we have 5 team photos from Division 6.

Today we have another selection of photos taken by Bob Haigh and our other amateur camera-man.
