Preview of the Divisions 3&4 fixture programme for Monday 15 January
Hanging Heaton and Marsh United are well clear in the Division 3 promotion race with the meeting of the two teams next month likely to determine the destination of the title. That is assuming that neither of the two teams drop a lot of points in the interim and if that should happen this week then that would be a surprise.
Both play bottom half teams this Monday with Hanging Heaton on an 8-match winning run with the last 6 of them all by the ultimate 8-0 scoreline. Marsh United have just one blemish on their record this season but losing 8 points to Rastrick in the week before Christmas may turn out to be their eventual undoing.
This week it is the turn of Lindley Lib B and Thorpe Green B to try and cause a shock result and both would like to do that to ease their own relegation fears. Having taken two points off Marsh United last week will provide the incentive for Lindley Lib B to do the same to the leaders this week.
Milnsbridge B remain in third place despite only winning one of their last four fixtures in the certain knowledge regardless of this week's results they will still be third come Monday night. This Monday they take on Primrose Hill Lib who will have been encouraged by last week's first win of the season but it is expected that Milnsbridge will offer a more difficult opponent than Rastrick did last week. In the other fixture Rastrick and Dalton go head to head with the winner likely to claim fourth place with just one point between them at present.
In Division 4 there are just 8 points between the top four teams with only three of those in action this week who all avoid meeting each other. Lindley Lib C reached the summit last week but are without a match this week as New Mill B have the opportunity to reclaim topspot as they meet bottom-of-the-table Springwood B.
Thorpe Green C are also in that pressing trio but with only one win in their last four matches are not the form team in their clash with Lowerhouses B who are on a run of six straight wins and a continuation of that form will surely be better rewarded than their current fifth place. Netherton Con A have won 4 of their last 6 matches but this week's opponents, Kirkheaton C&BC, beat them when they met back in November.
Almondbury BC A are making a determined effort to avoid relegation with two wins in their last three matches but remain in the drop zone for now but a win over Milnsbridge C could change all that. However Milnsbridge also have a 2 from last 3 win record and with a win over the same opponents already under their belts will be aiming for a League double.
