Division 3 leaders lose at Paddock

Review of Tuesday results in the Veterans 10-Man League Divisions 3,4&5

There were only three fixtures played in Division 3 this week (I don't know why) with a surprise defeat for the leaders, New Mill A, who lost 3-6 away at mid-table Paddock I&C. Brockholes A were the only other title candidates playing this week and that worked out well for them as they clocked up an 8-1 home win over Skel Windmill which ended a run of three straight defeats. The other Tuesday winners were Lindley Lib B who saw off Thorpe Green 6-3 and are now 11 points behind the second promotion place.

A rehearsal of their Sub-Team KO Semi-Final for the Division 4 teams from Marsh Lib A and Marsh United B saw them meeting up for a league fixture with Marsh Lib A coming out on top with a sweeping 8-1 win. That cemented their position in the second promotion place just one point behind Kirkheaton Con B who won 6-3 away at Huddersfield Recreation Club. Hanging on the coattails of the top two are Thongsbridge B who won 6-3 away at Meltham B and they go above the Rugby Club who lost 2-7 away at Milnsbridge B.

No result available for the bottom-of-the-table clash between the B teams from Lockwood Con and Brockholes but David Brown Sports picked up an important win and six points from their home match with Ravensknowle Park to move out of the relegation zone for now.

A narrow 5-4 home win for the Division 5 leaders, Netherton Con B, over Dalton was enough to extend their lead at the top mainly due to their main challenger, Broad Oak B losing 4-5 away at New Mill B. Lindley BC B stay 3rd and remain in the title and promotion chases after beating lowly Almondbury BC B 6-3.

Nine points separate the bottom seven teams with only two of those teams winning their Tuesday matches this week. They being Greenhead Park who beat fellow strugglers Marsh Lib B 5-4 (aggregate 125=124) and Holmfirth B who were 6-3 (125-120) winners over Primrose Hill Lib.
